Power and Determination give Salford a place in the second round

A brilliant performance by the team managed by the class of 92 was the best way to start a weekend of the FA cup. With Gary Neville, Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes watching in the stands, England’s oldest professional team put up a great display to beat Notts County 2-0. Despite the fact they went into the break level, Salford were much the better team. ¬†Hardcastle, Hulme, Webber and more missed good chances while County created little down the other end. Then just 18 seconds into the second half, James Poole beat the Notts County left-back with a good bit of skill before crossing into veteran Danny Webber to tap in from two yards. Then with County still looking toothless in attack, sub Richie Allen beat 3 players with a wonderful piece of skill before playing a one-two with Hulme and sliding the ball into the bottom corner. A brilliant goal to cap off a brilliant night.

In the weekends other big upsets, Altrincham beat Barnsley 1-0, Whitehawk won 5-3 against Lincoln, Eastleigh beat Crewe 0-1 and Chesham United surprised Bristol Rovers by beating them 1-0!
